Turn any Zoom recording into a searchable, speaker-separated transcript. Download your cloud or local Zoom recording, drop it above, and get meeting notes with automatic speaker labels (up to 6 people), AI chapters, and a summary. Search across long calls, rename speakers inline, and export to DOCX (Pro) or Markdown. Audio is encrypted in transit and deleted within 24 hours.
Where to find your Zoom recording
Zoom saves recordings in one of two places. Cloud recordings (paid plans) live under zoom.us → Recordings, where you can download the MP4 video or M4A audio. Local recordings save to a Zoom folder on your computer — on Windows it's usually Documents/Zoom, on Mac it's ~/Documents/Zoom — as a double_click_to_convert file that Zoom turns into an MP4 and M4A after the meeting. Either file works here: download it, drop it above, and you'll get a transcript in seconds.
Zoom's built-in transcript vs. a real transcript
Zoom's own audio transcript is only available on paid plans, only for cloud recordings, and it arrives as a rough VTT with no speaker names you can edit, no chapters, and no clean export. If you're on the free plan, or you recorded locally, Zoom gives you nothing. VidTranscriber works on any recording — cloud or local, free or paid Zoom — and adds automatic speaker labels, AI chapters, a summary, and clean exports.
How to transcribe a Zoom meeting for free
You don't need a paid Zoom plan or any software. Download your Zoom recording (video or audio), drop it into the box above, and the first 60 minutes transcribe free with no signup. You get a searchable, speaker-separated transcript you can edit inline. Sign in for longer meetings, or go Pro for unlimited transcription, AI chapters, and DOCX export.
Convert your Zoom transcript to Word
Once your meeting is transcribed, export it as a clean Word (DOCX) document with speakers, timestamps, and chapters formatted for you — no copy-pasting a messy VTT into Word and fixing the formatting by hand. You can also export Markdown for Notion or plain TXT. It's the fastest way to turn a Zoom call into shareable, polished meeting notes.
Speaker labels for multi-person calls
For meetings with several participants, the transcript separates each speaker automatically (up to 6) so you can see who said what. Rename 'Speaker 1' to a real name once and it updates throughout, and search the whole call to jump straight to a decision or action item — far faster than scrubbing back through the recording.
